Sea Wall
Stand and look from here,
you can see the earth’s curve,
a sea-levelled land
bereft of its mother.
Shells we have found
while the silt blew away,
powdered by droughts
and the pitiless wind.
Stand here with me
at the high spring tide—
you know the stark sea
will swell all over this again

Hi David
the high spring tide can be so impressive, lovely. 🙂 A sea-levelled land bereft ot it’s mother…
The poem would also look great on the Poetry from the Sea blog 🙂

Love to see that, great shot too. I have a thing about the water generally, and anywhere a little “rough” gets me going haa Great poem bud, very enjoyable on this pretty spring morning coffee time. 🙂

Lovely poem. I’m currently reading Elly Griffith’s “Ruth Galloway” mysteries, which are set in Norfolk. It’s nice to see what the coast, a setting she uses frequently, looks like.

Beautiful poetry David
reminded me of the vacation at my parents beach house..the way ocean bulges during the spring tides, frankly if on the beach it scares me a bit…from the comfort of home the ocean looks beautiful

Such beautiful imagery and sounds here, David, and your photo is lovely, too…this takes me back to when we rented a beach house when the kids were little. Tranquility abounds by the ocean, doesn’t it? Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
