The blank page
has the coldest stare,
no words can describe
this darkness inside,
yearning for amnesia.
Happiness, the distant land
where other people live;
I’m no denizen there,
my passport withdrawn
when you rejected me —
subjecting me —
to the pain of my self

adding words to a blank page happiness indeed

This is deeply poignant. I resonate with the ache, the angst and agony that one feels at times. It does feel like happiness like “the distant land where other people live.” I so admire the pacing of this quadrille. 💝

Not a fun place to be, when one’s passport has been withdrawn 😦 Hoping at some point new lands with new adventures for you.

The blank page CAN intimidate, can’t it? This is not the happiest piece, haha, but I still like it, especially the “passport withdrawn” from the distant land. This man needs to take a trip with a new travel mate!

That’s a powerful oxymoron, Francis: the darkness of a blank page. Happiness, the distant land, is another version of green grass on the other side of the fence. So many of us have been on the wrong side of the fence or had our passports withdrawn. I can feel the pain in your quadrille.

This is so sad. Perhaps words on the page can make the poet feel better. Blank pages can be an invitation, too.

‘the distant land where other people live’. That’s often how it seems. We always assume everyone else is having a wonderful time. We’re usually wrong.

To be exiled from the land like that is hard to be… and no passport back.
