I’m a ‘Well-rounded’ Person

south2

I write astrological, historical and political blogs and articles, sometimes combining all three fields. For my sins and to earn a few extra bucks, I have also been known to delve into proof reading, copy editing and copy writing. I have also dabbled (actually more than dabbled) into the fascinating, yet difficult world of poetry.
I have done much oil painting, sold pictures all around the world. I’ve been playing guitar since the 70s. I have lots of songs that I wouldn’t want to inflict on an already suffering public.
I last knowingly ate meat in 1988. This is not meant to be boastful.

  3. Hi David

It is good to meet you.

    I wish I could paint – I’m very good at stick men/women!
It will be a delight to look at yours.

I stopped eating meat around the same time as yourself It feels right for me.

My poems are very simple but I hope you can enjoy them

  4. Thank you Christine, good to meet you too.
Sometimes I feel as though I can’t paint! When that happens I just remember the line ‘painting is just making marks’. In other words, not every painting can be wonderful, ‘a work of art’. A bit like poetry, I guess.
Simple poetry is often the best and that’s what I try to aim for as well.
    Thanks again and good wishes

  5. I’ve just looked through your paintings and am in awe! Beautiful! I have always been so envious (and I know envy is a bad, bad, bad feeling) of those fortunate enough to be able to recreate what they see (in real life or in their minds) in colours… So I am seriously envious of you right now! I am not in a position to buy anything, but please accept my appreciation (though I know it won’t put food on the table), especially for the “Dog Dusk at Pinchbeck” and all of your previous paintings – there is (for me) something absolutely magic about that pink hue!

  6. David,

Wanted to stop by and thank you very much for following my blog. Your work is quite stunning and I am intrigued by the little of it I have perused. You paint beautifully – your nods to artists such as Monet (I hope I am not being presumptuous) are obvious and you pay him and others great homage with your soft textures and wonderful use of colour.

Very much looking forward to getting to know your work and I have followed you right back!

    Nice to meet you πŸ™‚

    Louise.

  8. David, I have tried every way I know how to post my appreciation of your post “Distraction”, especially the sublime painting. Really loved the way you connected that which caught the ancestor’s eye to the ending where the tool maker was made a fool by the making. True self-discovery so well-versified here.
P.S. I have been trying to find this blog, without success, until you tweeted me with your latest post. Hopefully, this comment will be accepted. I am putting it on my clipboard to email it to you, in any case.

I don’t think it’s boastful to say when you last knowingly ate meat. It is wonderful. I haven’t learned enough how to sustain myself without meat. I need to learn interesting recipes. I do want to make the change. It’s a horrible industry and I am turned off it more each day. I do feel I need to feed my child meat though, for protein. I just need to learn more.

Your page looks very very artistic. I am going to have to come back & read more on you (it is pre work at the moment) – I like the simple style, for a start.

Thank you for subbing. I am honoured πŸ™‚

  29. Hi there,
I love the painting in your blog header. It is really beautiful. I was surprised, because impressionistic (is that accurate?) paintings usually don’t catch me. This one did… You’re very talented in what I’ve seen of your writing and art. I’m quite jealous! I always wanted to paint, but I just cannot get the hang of it. So, I stick to writing. πŸ˜‰ Keep up your wonderful work!

  33. Dear David
Thank you for following my blog today.
I try to keep it aimed mostly at life in Cyprus but sometimes other matters just simply take over and I find I have to put fingertips to keyboard…

I only had chance for a quick peep at your website, but I intend to spend a little more time there later today.

    Thanks again!
