Tarot Reading – Week Beginning Monday January 17: Accentuating the Feminine

There is plenty of feminine energy this week, perhaps as befits the full Moon in Cancer on Monday.

Overtly: The Queen of Cups corresponds to Pisces in general. She is generous, charitable, protective, compassionate, understanding, yet capable of giving authoritative advice too. Similarly, we must be equally understanding with each other and accept that things can and will get better if we allow them to, always recognising the spiritual bond between us.

Covertly: The Star is number 17 of the Major Arcana, which reduces down to number 8, reflecting the number of stars in the card. Behind the scenes of the present situation, many good things are happening. Despite what we may think, these achievements result from many different considerations, but all ultimately for the benefit of humanity and securing our future. The light of the sun, and the stars, does indeed shine upon us all.

Resolution: 7 of Coins or Pentacles, the first decanate of Virgo ruled by Mercury. Our everyday activities and our health are highlighted and will ultimately see benefits this week. We shall, towards the end of the week, see real progress in strategies that will make our lives just that bit easier and tolerable, healthwise, and in the workplace.

Partygate – A Short Tarot Perspective

As you may know, the United Kingdom is gripped by a government scandal, involving numerous individuals flagrantly breaking their own rules of isolation during the pandemic. I asked the cards, ‘will the government survive?’

The first card, representing the overall overt situation, was the 5 of Swords. I see this card as the equivalent of the second decanate of Aquarius ruled by Mercury. I think this shows rather well the conflict, the ongoing arguments, not only within the British Conservative party, but also in the whole political establishment and particularly the media. It will be temporary, but it is quite clearly very serious, a situation which has rightly raised the ire of the public.

The second card position is the covert, or hidden perspective. Here I drew the 6 of Cups, which is the third decanate of Scorpio ruled by the Moon. To me this suggests that underlying the headlines and the fury, we are now emerging from the pandemic paradigm which has completely dominated our lives for two years. Could it be that the stories and the headlines will act as a segue towards some form of normality in our lives? For me, this is a healing card.

However, there is an elephant in the room, constituting two profound questions that are still rarely asked. 1. Why has it taken until now, nearly two years into this pandemic, to discover the full extent of this scandalous behaviour?; and 2. Just what was/is it that many political and celebrity types knew that allowed them to brazenly carry on partying as if there was no deadly virus around us at all??? To me this covert 6 of Cups suggests in itself that there is something hidden and that all is not quite what it seems.

The final card on the right is the outcome, or resolution position, where I drew the Knight of Swords. For me this is Libra and to do with justice, perhaps swift justice in regard to this scandal. Swords are thoughts, information and the media; I think there may be a rather quick resolution to this issue, which will also clarify the truth of the situation which we have all faced for far too long. And that truth, I am sad to say, may be much more shocking than even the behaviour of certain government and other responsible officials.

Tarot Reading: Will England Retain its Monarchy?

I have asked this question previously, in fact several times. Each time I do not get a definitive no. I have got the impression that the monarchy will remain but in a different form.

So I asked the question again, and I got a broadly similar answer. I used a three card spread, as I often do, the centre card being the overt position, the left card the covert position and the right card the outcome or resolution position.

The three of wands is a generally positive reply. For me this card corresponds to the third decanate of Aries, ruled by Jupiter. I think the monarchy’s future will come up for some debate rather soon, but not to remove it, at least I don’t think so. The three of wands is quite expansive, forward thinking, even joyous, creative, so I think we could see a very different monarchy in the future, one that both harkens back to the past, spiritually, but also looks forward to new possibilities. This might mean a change of dynasty, or in the role of the monarch.

The Fool in the covert position is an indication that in the background the discussion about the monarchy’s future is already being seriously debated – and I don’t think anything is being ruled out. Some of the controversies involving some members of the Royal Family will have certainly contributed to the situation. The Fool represents primal energy, endless possibility, but also cautions one to ponder on decisions. Look at the dog scratching The Fool’s leg; is he trying to caution him? I think we are being warned here not to ‘throw the baby out with the bath water’, so to speak. The monarchy is the one steadfast element remaining in the English ‘constitution’ and I believe nations will remain an important factor in the future. Yes, changes are almost certainly needed but we should be careful what some of us may wish for.

The resolution card is The World, card 21, which also adds up to three. For me this indicates that the future decision in regard to the English/British monarchy will have a profound and universal effect. It would seem that England, and thereby Great Britain too, stands to have much influence in the future world, particularly its new monarchy, whatever form that may take. I do not think this means a united world ruled by the British monarchy! No, that would be awful; however, it could be that somehow it will become a spiritual beacon for the rest of the independent nations of the world to follow, however unlikely that might seem right now.

World Tarot Reading for Sunday January 9: Time to Begin Anew

Today is the day to begin something new, especially in regard to the way we think and communicate. It is also a good time to reestablish links with our local communities.

In the background, however, as a backcloth to this, there is some upheaval, changes which may well be disruptive, though not necessarily seen in plain sight or understood.

Nevertheless, rest assured that anything begun this day will potentially have long lasting practical value in establishing new modes and methods in the immediate future.

Tarot Reading for the World – January 8: Changes afoot

A theme I have been getting a lot of recently; changes afoot, some of which may be drastic; endings and new beginnings, the latter changes in regard to travel, communication and media usually being obscured.

That said, today is also a good time to cross the Ts and dot the Is in any practical work, to ease the process of change which is definitely occurring despite most appearances. This is important work and a sure sign of progress as the 7 of coins indicates. Any detailed work in regard to health and efficiency should go well.
