Today is the day to begin something new, especially in regard to the way we think and communicate. It is also a good time to reestablish links with our local communities.
In the background, however, as a backcloth to this, there is some upheaval, changes which may well be disruptive, though not necessarily seen in plain sight or understood.
Nevertheless, rest assured that anything begun this day will potentially have long lasting practical value in establishing new modes and methods in the immediate future.
A theme I have been getting a lot of recently; changes afoot, some of which may be drastic; endings and new beginnings, the latter changes in regard to travel, communication and media usually being obscured.
That said, today is also a good time to cross the Ts and dot the Is in any practical work, to ease the process of change which is definitely occurring despite most appearances. This is important work and a sure sign of progress as the 7 of coins indicates. Any detailed work in regard to health and efficiency should go well.
Change is in the air. Change materially, financially but also spiritually. Their is an ongoing shakeup and today may seem some significant developments that cannot be ignored.
The old ways, the old stories, cannot stay forever. The ensuing unsettlement – and today’s energy feels somewhat unsettled – is only part of the process. There are only so many fingers one can put in the dam before it breaks. But that deluge is not quite yet. We don’t know when that might be.
However, covering all this, there is also a benign, steadfast authority looking out for us today. Call it God, or the universe, but ultimately all will be well if we have faith.
I recently did an overall ‘luminary spread’ for the year 2022 and it looked more positive.
So what can we expect in January? I asked the cards that question. For this reading I used the the rather lovely Soprafino deck.
In the Sun centre position I drew The Chariot. It would appear that we can expect some changes, sudden, fast moving events which may shock many. This card is number 7 in the major arcana and so any such changes ought to be quite significant and meaningful, hopefully progress towards freeing up the world.
You Can’t Take My Freedom?
The Moon card position to the top left was the 3 of Wands, corresponding to the last decanate of Aries ruled by Jupiter. I think we should see events that will lighten our hearts a little, allow us to breathe and to smile and make us feel more like human beings once again within our family circle and emotionally.
The Mars card to the top right was the 4 of Cups, which relates to the first decanate of Scorpio ruled by Mars. I think we can begin to feel more self assured about what to do in our lives. We have taken a lot over the last two years, now is the time to move forward steadfastly, secure in the knowledge that we are indeed sovereign.
Get Out And About
The Mercury card at the top is The Sun. This is card 19 of the Major Arcana which adds up to 1. Anything to do with communication, short journeys, our siblings and local environment look well starred this month. We ought to be looking at new and innovative ways of communicating, as well as reaching out to others in more traditional ways.
The Jupiter card at the bottom is the Ace of Wands, which is the 1st decanate of Aries ruled by Mars. To me this suggests that travel will truly begin to open up during this month. We should also see renewal and changes in religion, the justice system and philosophy of all kinds. The overall sense of positivity should grow in our lives.
Financial Changes?
The Venus card at the bottom left was the 2 of Coins, which is the 2nd decanate of Capricorn ruled by Venus. To add to the general feeling of posivity, I think we should all begin to feel a little more secure in our lives, that we can plan ahead and look forward to feeling good about ourselves. We may also see some significant change or split in the financial situation, yet even this would appear to be largely beneficial.
And finally we have the Saturn card at the bottom right, where we have the 9 of Swords. Now in the Rider Waite decks we all know about the upsetting imagery of this card, when really all it represents is some final attainment to do with our minds, communication or perhaps the media. The 9 of Swords is the last decanate of Gemini, ruled by Saturn. To me this suggests the culmination of something that has been worked towards in regard to the media, for some time. Are we to expect some rather significant announcements to underline the overall sense of change and renewal this month?
Of course I might be wrong, but let’s hope that January 2022 will not just be another depressive, frustrating month.
The full Moon, in fact a partial lunar eclipse in Taurus on November 19 2021, is closely conjunct the fixed star Algol, which probably has the worst press of any luminary.
After all, Algol in Arabic literally means the Ghoul, so what else should we expect? There have been many studies done about events and individuals with planets aspecting this malevolent star, which has associations with drugs, including alcohol (which almost sounds like the star, right?), delusion, violence and general extremes: Algol is the head of the Gorgon Medusa who was killed by Perseus in ancient Greek mythology.
So let’s be clear, this full Moon is likely to be pretty intense, more intense than usual. The Sun and Moon are squared by Jupiter in Aquarius in the third house, the ruler of this chart set for London, creating a tense T-square in fixed signs. Jupiter’s expansive nature is only likely to exacerbate the sense of darkness and drama. There is likely to be a coming to a head of an existing problematic political, financial and economic situation in the world as well as the UK. Jupiter is in the third house of communication, so we ought to hear about it, hopefully.
This is underlined by Mars, also in its own sign of Scorpio opposing Uranus in Taurus in the sixth house of health and work. I am thinking of the NHS and national issues involving health, work and money. However, Venus in Capricorn in the second house makes beneficient angles to Mars and and Uranus, highlighting an opportunity to offload some of this tension in new practical ways and directions.
What does a three card tarot spread suggest? Card 1 is the present situation, Card 2 the background or hidden story, Card 3 is the possible outcome.
I think we really are at a point of culmination here, but it may feel a bit like the dark night of the soul. Nevertheless, the Hermit is holding his light to show the way, it is essential that we look and discern what is going on. Knowing the truth can be a lonely place in a world of deception.
Behind the scenes a new situation is rapidly developing which we are still scarcely aware of. This is a spiritual battle, an undeclared war.
The outcome could be quite drastic around this time, or shortly afterwards. The Tower card in TDM is called the House of God; remember that any changes, however drastic are needed, even though it might be quite disruptive for a while. An old house has to be taken down before we can rebuild.
This card is number 16 of the Major Arcana, which adds up to 7, a number of progress, conjecture, change and strategy. God is working his purpose out, as the saying goes.
