My heart in the wood,
dreaming of a peerless sky
while a pine cone falls

bringing snow and lurid light —
starlings gathering

A light returning
through the greying firmament.
The cat is outside

Precursors of spring;
purity from mother’s heart.
A neighbour’s warm smile.
