Astrology & Health — Libra, the Beginning of Fall (Autumn)

Photo by Anderson Miranda on Pexels.com

In astrology, Libra is the seventh sign of the zodiac, ruled by Venus. It is the sign of cardinal, or dominant, air.

Libra begins with the autumnal equinox, where the sun’s path moves south of the equator, when the days and nights are of equal length. Perhaps for this reason, Libra is associated with balancing, justice, weighing up opinions as only an air sign can, in a cool and rational manner.

In physical health terms, the kidneys are traditionally associated with Libra, those two excretory organs either side of the lower back. This is often said to be likely weak point for those with Libra strongly emphasised in individual charts.

Equally, the endocrine system performs a similarly balancing function within the body, which is also associated with Libra. Interestingly, one of the major endocrine glands are the adrenals, situated above each kidney, the latter as we have seen being linked to Libra, whilst the adrenals are commonly linked to Aries, Libra’s opposite sign.

Those with Libra emphasised in their charts can also often suffer from headaches more than most; this is sometimes a result of kidney malfunction too, highlighting once more the polarising aspect between Libra and its opposite sign, Aries, which rules the head.

That said, as Libra is often an intelligent and fair minded sign, more typical individuals are usually very interested in their health and will usually have set in motion health regimes, involving diet and exercise, to stave off more serious health issues.

As the kidneys are a potential weak spot, keeping good hydration would seem to be especially beneficial to such types to help the proper functioning of these organs.

Astrology and Health: Aries – Astrology Musings

Photo by Trace Hudson on Pexels.com

It is of course far too simplistic to assert that we are all typical of our sun signs. Logic implies that we are all rather complex, with our own particular strengths and weaknesses.

However, an individual birth chart analysis, where many other factors as assessed, can help to give a clearer picture of what we are made of, astrologically — and even throw light upon which health issues may affect us through our lives.

Nevertheless, the sun’s position by sign will always be a key factor and general indicator of our health.

The Battering Ram

So let’s begin with Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. Aries is the Ram, symbol of vibrant, ardent spring, ruled by virulent Mars. The Ram is the cardinal fire sign, which means it is dominant, energetic and courageous.

With Aries traditionally being the first sign, it is always assigned rulership of the head. It’s said that typical Aries people are headstrong; think of the phrase ‘a sudden rush of blood to the head’.

Natural Leaders

Strongly Aries characters make natural leaders, often leading by example in such physically demanding arenas as sport and the military. Clearly this can lead to greater danger of injury — including the head. Traditionally, Aries people are also said to be more prone to cuts, scalds, headaches and migraine.

Astrology is also about polarities. The opposite sign of our sun sign can also be a factor in our health due to reflex action. Libra is Aries’ opposite and rules the kidneys. Aries dominant individuals can also be prone to kidney issues.

Fight or Flight?

Interestingly, the adrenal glands are located just above each kidney and they produce adrenaline, the ‘fight or flight’ hormone, as well as some other steroids. The function of adrenaline is very Aries or ‘Martian’ by nature.

So as can be seen, there is a certain logic to the traditional correlation of sun signs to parts of the human body. Nevertheless, it is not logical to make assumptions of our general health based solely upon the position of the sun. A full assessment of a birth chart, based upon the the time, date and place of birth of the individual, must be carried out to get a more detailed picture.

Moon Moves into Libra – Astrology Musings

Photo by Anderson Miranda on Pexels.com

The Moon has just moved into the cardinal air sign of Libra, as of Friday August 21.

As the Moon has much to say about the general mood of our daily situation, expect the next couple of days to air more stories about justice, social issues and diplomatic moves. Let’s hope they’re more positive.

I was born with the Moon in Libra, which correlates to my greater than usual emotional need to feel ‘balance’ in my life, to be with people and be approved, though thanks to Saturn being in challenging aspect to this Moon, I have invariably felt somewhat out of place, out on a limb. This may be part of my karmic inheritance.

It’s something one has to accept, I guess, but even ‘the astrologer’ in me often finds it hard to self analyse.

Happy Birthday – Stevie Wonder

Venus doubles up with Taurus and Libra and puts it out there. A quick look.

There are few more remarkable musicians than Stevie Wonder. A great singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, who infuses his songs with passion and intelligence.

But what might the luminaries say?

Well, to begin, we have a Taurus sun conjunct Mercury closely trine Mars in Virgo. It suggests a very strong singing voice, Taurus, after all, rules the throat and Mars will only add virtuoso power and strength from Virgo.

What is more, here also is a practical (earth), highly dexterous potential, with innate, multi-faceted (Mercury) skills.

There is Libra on the ascendant, like Taurus also ruled by Venus. Amongst other things, Venus is closely associated with music.

Close to the ascending degree we have Neptune. This ‘outer planet’ can provide an air of inspiration, mystique, glamour, attraction when placed so close the the AC, and Libra rising is often noted for its powers of diplomacy and attraction.

The ruling planet, Venus, is in Aries in the 7th house of relationship, the natural house Libra. This combined with an Aries Moon suggests ardent feelings for others – the ‘You’.

Happy Birthday indeed.
