Thought for the Day – 2 January – The Necessity of Meditation in Silence — AnaStpaul (Reblog)

Thought for the Day – 2 January – Meditations with Antonio Cardinal Bacci (1881-1971) The Necessity of Meditation in Silence “With desolation all the land made desolate because, there is none that considereth in the heart” (Jer 12:11). Very often the world is plunged in the desolation of evil because, there is nobody who will […]

Tangled Up in Zen — Artistcoveries (Reblog)

Life is crazy these days. Between a pandemic and politics, we’re living in a world of confusion and uncertainty. Emotions run high, spirits are low, and life as we once knew it is a thing of the past. No one knows for sure where we’re heading on when we’ll get there. Day after day my […]

Stop Minding Your Own Business — Meditations in Motion (Reblog)

My husband and I slept in one day last week. Bill likes to have a cup of coffee before our run, so we didn’t get out the door until after 9:00, much later than we usually go. We had a nice run, then came home to hot showers and a leisurely brunch. I couldn’t help […]

Three Things I Think About When I Can’t Sleep — Meditations in Motion (Reblog)

As I get older, I find a full night’s sleep, the kind when I fall asleep at 10:00 and wake up at 6:00, elusive. Oh, I get to sleep just fine; I don’t usually stay asleep the whole night. I typically wake up somewhere around midnight, and I am awake with only my thoughts to […]

‘Rain’ a Poem

Contemplate the rain, this fleeting season,
changes I can do nothing about.
Sitting, watching, listening; the hanging drops
on vacant washing lines and leaves,
all testimony to nature,
that the laws of men may come and go,
yet eternal truths stand starkly before us:
Our choice to ignore.
The harder I try the less I get in return.
But the gentle rush of rain brings it back,
the raucous calls of crows
sitting in out in shedding trees;
the clutter of my mind
stands between what is me
and my self.
