Poem: Rumour

Rumour

Tell me I’m wrong
but I’m hearing of wars
and rumours of wars,
some crystal clear pictures
of stark weapons pointing high,
spying drones brought low
and the smiling faces of men
I’m told are my enemy.

Each channel I see
repeats the same message
almost word for word,
so I switch it all off
and listen to the birds,
the sounds of my conscience –
common sense saying
that the end is not yet.

Fear rules the dark world
Fear, the enemy within
Who makes you afraid?

an azure invitation

I’m hearing of wars
I hear of rumours of wars
So should I take heed?

He’ll dispose of you
