What’s your birth sign? — Figuretry (Reblog)

A typical question when people mention astrology. How many of them are aware that this information refers to a solar position in a birth chart? But even that description is insufficient . To describe sun’s location in a chart we need a house number as well. Sometimes it is even more valuable information than the […]

Start Afresh? New Moon in Leo – Astrology Today

The New Moon on August 18/19 2020 is symbolically important and very interesting. What does this mean?

New Moons, and the immediate period after them, when the sun and Moon are in conjunction and the Moon begins a new cycle, are traditionally considered good times to begin something new, new projects, a change in lifestyle etc. What does this New Moon indicate?

Enjoy Yourself and Start Something New

A New Moon in Leo is positive in itself. Leo is the sign of ‘love, luck and life‘. It’s about enjoyment, kids, sport, having fun, making the most of your spare time. So begin something new along those lines. If we were living in different circumstances, a last minute holiday might have been a good idea to kick start something new!

This New Moon is conjunct Mercury too, planet of communication. Any new project involving the mind, books, your immediate family, neighbourhood, or something to do with local travel or business, could be well favoured if begun now.

Supercharged! And with ‘Royal‘ Approval?

What is more, this New Moon is also in very good aspect to Mars in its own sign of Aries. Although this aspect is separating, anything begun now will be supercharged! Maybe its time to give it a go, despite the circumstances we are all in.

What is effectively a triple conjunction of the Sun, Moon and Mercury, is also very close to the fixed star Regulus. This star, which is in the constellation of Leo, is one of the brightest in the sky, and it generally has a positive reputation, often to do with royalty. The sign of Leo is course also closely connected to royalty and celebrity. One might interpret this as giving an extra ‘royal’ assent to any new project begun around now.

*Interestingly, we may here some significant news regarding royal families over the next day or so.

Karmic Contacts

One more layer to add here is this Leo New Moon’s positive contact with the nodes, which have a special karmic significance. At the moment the nodes are in Gemini and Sagittarius, both signs of communication and the mind.

I think this once more tends to favour new beginnings in anything local rather than global. Thinking smaller and more local is probably the way to go.

Be Careful Out There

However, I must ring a note of caution here. Saturn, the greater malefic, so called, is in a difficult aspect to this New Moon. Whilst this aspect (the quincunx 150 degrees) may not be as obviously difficult or challenging as the square or opposition, it may signify that you should be prepared for some unexpected difficulties to arise – considering the times we are living in right now, this would not be surprising.

So yes, make the most of the New Moon in Leo. It’s special, but it’s also up to us to use this energy and propel ourselves into something new and enjoyable.

Heaven’s on Fire! Sun Trine Mars – Astrology

The heavens are more positively charged this morning.

We may be approaching the New Moon in Leo but early today marks a positive boost from the trine (120 degree) aspect from the Sun and Mercury in fiery Leo to Mars in rampant Aries, both the Sun and Mars in their signs of dignity.

We should all have felt some kind of energy surge, but especially you Leo, Aries, Scorpio, Gemini and Virgo types, a wish to enjoy and experience the summer holidays to the full to dispel that Monday morning feeling perhaps?

And with the Moon also just entering Leo, wherever you live, just get out and about and make the most of your day, or evening; socialise, entertain!

Didn’t feel anything different? Ah well.

Royal Leo – The Centre of Attention

Untitled-1 (3)

Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac, its ruler is the sun. Leo cannot help but be regal and is therefore associated with royal families, royalty in general, as well as celebrity.

With the sun being ruler of Leo, this sign likes to shine, be the centre of attention just like the sun itself.

But if you think Leo is at all overbearing, just remember how generous he or she can be too. After all, Leo is the sign of ‘love, luck and life’. It’s about experience, enjoyment, taking part. Sport! And the fun of children.

Most especially Leo loves to enjoy – and we could all do with enjoyment right now.

Lucky Leo!

With the sun now in his own sign of Leo, we are entering high summer in these northern lands.

Leo is the sign of warmth, life, love, kids, sport, acting and self expression in general. The fact that the zodiac (or the ecliptic) is the apparent path of the sun through the sky, makes the sign of Leo, ruled by the same sun, seem rather special to me – and Leos know they are special. The kings and queens of the zodiac.

Leo is the fifth sign and also linked to the mundane fifth house in astrology. In numerology the number five is broadly similar to Leo’s optimistic traits of lust for life and experience.

Leo is the sign of creation of all kinds, just like the sun is the source of warmth and light. Leo is the sign of children, therefore, our most fundamental creations who continue our pursuit of life and love.

Leo is the positive, ‘masculine’ sign of fixed fire. Fire signs are ardent, powerful, creative, fixed signs are determined and stubborn – we can see that the symbol of the Lion is highly appropriate. So why else would the collective noun of lions be ‘pride’?

The sun is said to be dignified in his own sign of Leo. Proud Leo indeed.

Notable Leo individuals include interesting characters such as the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, and Napoleon Bonaparte.

Enter Mars, Stage Right – Astrology Musings

Of course, I’m talking about Mars marching into Leo today, where he stays until around the middle of August. It promises to be a dramatic, and hopefully enjoyable, Summer (northern lands).

I might be overstating the case but has this year has had a rather depressive, introspective feel to it so far?

With Neptune seeking ever more mystical ways of contemplation in Pisces, and with Saturn and Pluto slowly coming together in Capricorn, along with Uranus moving into Taurus, threatening to destabilise political and financial structures generally, I sense a very serious atmosphere.

Then along comes Mars marching into Leo, promising to let us off the leash for a time.

Flaunt it

Even with Jupiter in his own sign, who is retrograde at present, that’s all very well if you are keen on developing an inner philosophy right now. That’s boring, right? Mars in Leo insists you get out there and flaunt it.

So what do we have? Mars is energy, primal energy essentially. Leo is creation, kids, kicking that football.

Surge of creative energy

It should be a good time for playing sport, being creative, joining a drama group…

For more especially Leonine types, they will feel a surge of energy they will want to use, as indeed will the other fire signs, Aries and Sagittarius.

Aries will be up for enjoyment, expending energy in all these creative pursuits. Sagittarius may feel even more like travelling than normal, perhaps doing some long distance hiking, for example, or visiting some very distant, very different cultural hot spot.

Beware of agitation

Aquarians, for example, though they too might feel their relationships invigorated, should be aware of agitation.

In fact, that would be the general cautionary word in regard to Mars in Leo – yes, get out there and enjoy yourself, but don’t overdo it.
