Poem: Whose History

Places you’ve walked by all your life,
the things you’ve missed
and taken for granted.
Windows buried, their arches
showing above ground,
what we may call Early English,
disguised by brick and tarmac –
the layers of untold history:
a million stories lost in the retelling

The Only Lamborghini I’ll Ever Own… Probably

IMG_2279

It’s funny what you find in your loft sometimes.

Toy cars are fun when your young and still fascinating when your not so spritely. They bring back a lot of memories, most of the fond ones anyway.

I’m not sure whether this Lamborghini was ever actually my toy – it was probably my son’s. Nevertheless there’s something nice and classical about these Matchbox models. I won’t be parting with it.

This one stems back a decade or two but it’s just lovely and sleek, a bit like the ‘real thing’ one would suppose.

Beautiful, and it sets your imagination going too, You know – Monaco, St. Tropez, the Ligurian coast, Amalfi, Sorrento. Ah well.

England’s Heritage: The Collegiate Church of Holy Trinity, Tattershall, Lincolnshire

DSC_0003 (2)

The incredibly beautiful 15th century Collegiate Church of Holy Trinity in the village of Tattershall in central Lincolnshire.

To my mind it is one of the best examples of English Perpendicular architecture anywhere.

At various times in history, the church has fallen into disrepair but has been restored, even preserving a colony of three species of bats within its structure!

The major advantage of the massive Perpendicular windows is the great amount of light let in.
